On leaving Silver Birch Ward I was given my lemonade and custard tubs these have gone missing. When I arrived in Robin Ward I was put into a small room and left there. After a long time I asked to go to my room, only to find all my belongings all over the place and of course important things missing. Remember these hospitals are in the same trust and my belongings should have been dealt with, when I was present.
I have come into hospital to make myself better but feel this ward duty of care has knocked me back, because I have just come. Food hit and miss. Medication short and for some reason the doctor prescribed liquid medication? No eye drops eyes sore. Recently I agreed to go to hospital the next morning when I needed to have my catheter changed no one came. I asked about it and they wanted me to go in the afternoon, I refused because I get fatigued as the day goes on.
Numerous times l have asked for a welcome pack so I can tell friends where l am, asked for toilet wipes and paper towels, the toilet paper is like blotting paper. So unhappy!
All the wards I was transferred from provided lemonade but not here. l am told to drink plenty because l have a catheter. I will just have to try milk or "fortijuce" that is limited.
No sign of my A4 size brown envelope with important papers. No sign of white padded envelope with black wallet inside.
No mid morning/afternoon drinks no desert and no supper.
Ask for something you don't see them again?
When I did go hospital for my catheter to be changed. I was there for hours.
Why Robin Ward chose this way I do not know, every 12 weeks l have it changed. Before the district nurse would come and change the catheter 30 minutes job done. One of the reasons I am in hospital is to eat and drink to put on weight. However Robin Ward didn't keep the lunch that I ordered, that I think could have gone in the microwave. What they brought as alternative I couldn't eat because of my thrush.
I don't think this is what you call caring.
I have had my illness thirty years. During this time l have had lots of consultants, professors, doctors and psychologists. The reason I had to go into hospital this time was because l was starving myself to death. Three people came to see me, two psychiatrists and an Approved Mental Health Practitioner social worker, most of the conversation was with a AMHP.
She discussed the situation and for me to agree. She said if I agree to go into hospital that l would eat, drink, get up to speed with my medication and by doing this l will get help with the mess I left behind when I went into the wilderness living in a tent for four years. I first went into Bassetlaw hospital until a bed was available, that's when I went into Silver Birch Ward and then from there to here Robin Ward Mansfield.
