"Waiting times (with an open wound)"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

I am not one to blame the NHS for anything, I agree that it is underfunded and under-cared for, however I have been in A&E for reaching 5 and a half hours now, left with an open wound and have bled through my gauze. Every member of staff I have come across has been lovely but if it was deemed necessary I would have happily went to minor injuries. Unfortunately I was told to stay here and it has been a long waiting game since. I have seen people come in after me and seen before me with no visible injuries while I sit with a bandage round my head that has been bled through and told “I’ll be seen later” this was 2 hours ago.

Thanks for contacting us it would be good if you could reach out to the nursing team within the department to let them know this information, so we can let you know the course of your treatment. If you have now left it would be helpful for us if you could speak to our patient experience team so we can look further into what caused any delays for you today. I am sorry for your experience with us so far.

Thanks

michelle
