"Outpatient appointment"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology Services Dr Gray's Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I have the best GI Consultant, Dr Moroni, I have what the NHS says are complex health conditions (not my words) and have been on a rollercoaster trying to get answers to a gynae problem, a prolapse.

Quick breakdown of events :-

May 2024 referred by GP to gynaecology, August appt with Well Woman Clinic advised the issue to be referred to ARI. Condition deteriorated, July 2025 appt arrived in which I was told I would be advised of the outcome of multi-disciplinary team discussion. The appt was however cancelled by NHS understandably due to more urgent problems, in cancelling the appt, I was advised that a further appt would be sent out.

As nothing was heard we contacted gynaecology whilst apologising for any delay advised that as far as was understood the matter was now with ARI, I was passed around several Admin Secretaries (thank you to all). Finally told by original Gynaecologist Admin that it was passed back & appt made for Sept sent out for discussion about MDT meeting & again that this would be then referred to ARI.

Completely separate to the above, Dr Moroni arranged for Colorectal & Gynaecologist Consultants to see me for 1  joint appt. In this appt I got information, an explanation of my problem, a plan, a prescription heading to my GP, a decision to think about, and information being sent out.

Myself & hubby felt listened to, yes I am on a waiting list but I now feel I am part of it. NHSG promotes Realistic Medicine I personally feel you need to get all health professionals on board with this. For me I feel a year plus has been wasted when clearly there are things that could have started & I may not be where I am now, I feel I have cost the NHS more with this backwards & forwards.

My prolapse is having a huge impact on me, my wellbeing, & my mobility has declined. The impact on my main health condition is  challenging, after this brilliant appt it has given me faith back in the NHS. Huge thank you to Dr Hemming & Dr McKinley.

All health is important but knowing that Women's Health is lagging behind is beyond belief, Women are constantly told to keep active, enjoy life & don't get isolated I cannot explain the pain & discomfort I have & how I have become isolated (we don't all have family close or a circle of friends) but I did go out. My hubby has to watch & in his words feels helpless so please look at systems.
