"Healthy Lifestyles in Pregnancy Service"

About: Lanarkshire Community Services / Community Maternity Care

(as a service user),

This service changed my whole pregnancy and post-partum period for the better and I cannot thank them enough. It was amazing to have three such skilled professionals look at my situation holistically and help me to have a healthy pregnancy.

I felt the three aspects of the service were all equally needed. I feel so lucky to have had the nutritional advice from Alicia, the encouragement to stay active from Heather, as well as her knowledge about pelvic girdle pain, and the midwifery advice and reassurance from Nikki the midwife.

The appointments also gave me a lot of emotional support without any judgement or stigma and I left every appointment feeling positive & empowered to put realistic changes into place as part of my treatment plan.

They also included my partner in one of my appointments and that really helped him to understand how to support me.

Due to this service, I managed to have a healthy, appropriate weight gain during my pregnancy and they supported me in the postpartum period with trying to get to a healthy weight. My baby was welcome too, which was very helpful because I would not have been able to attend otherwise.

I cannot thank this service enough and I hope they share how they work with other services for women and families so that other services can learn from them.

Good Afternoon @Petunia2024 Congratulations on the birth of your baby and thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the Healthy Lifestyle in Pregnancy Service team. It is wonderful to hear how much the team have supported both you and your partner through your pregnancy and postpartum period and how you have benefited from their knowledge and expertise but also the emotional support. I will pass on your comments and praise to Alicia, Heather and Nikki who will be delighted to know how much their care has meant to you. Wishing you all the best for the future.
