Infection set in my index finger resulting in pain and a bubble of puss under the skin near the nail.
My experience with the fracture clinic was excellent.
I was referred via my doctor. I turned up and as I had no appointment I had to wait until the doctor was free.
I only had to wait about an hour then I was seen by the doctor who was really great, he asked me if ok to have students watching which wasn't a problem.
The doctor froze my finger and a student then squeezed the white puss stuff out my finger and cleaned it and applied a dressing and given antibiotics.
The dressing was a bit OTT but the doctor said you'll get the sympathy vote and we laughed about it.
My next appointment was met with the same care and attention , I still had a bit of an infection and was given more antibiotics and a new but not OTT dressing.
My final appointment I had Cara in charge and she was great at her job and great to chat with about my finger, she applied a solution to soften the skin and then when ready peeled of the dead skin. She gave me advice on how to care for the finger and wished me well.
Overall I never have any moans about the NHS I wait my turn and let the staff do their job which they do great.
