"I couldn’t have been better cared for"

About: North Devon District Hospital / General surgery North Devon District Hospital / Surgical Assessment Unit

(as the patient),

I recently became ill and my GP referred me to NDDH on an urgent basis. I arrived mid morning and was examined very promptly by a medical team.

By early afternoon I’d had a CT scan and by late afternoon had seen a consultant and was diagnosed with a major gastric infection and a black necrotic leaking gallbladder. I was put on antibiotics and had an emergency operation to remove my gallbladder. I was discharged three days later.

Everyone I came into contact with was kind, efficient and caring from the consultants through to the nursing staff and catering team. The operation, which I gather was far from easy, was a complete success. I couldn’t have been better cared for. Had this not been the case I’m told the consequences could have been very serious.

We thanked the staff of George V and Lundy ward but wanted to let you know how impressed we were with the hospital as a whole.

Thank you!

Dear Manchild49,

Thank you for leaving feedback about your positive experience at NDDH we very much appreciate it.

I will share this with the team on Lundy and we hope that you are continuing to recover well from your recent surgery.
