About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Orthopaedics (Bones, Joints and Fractures)

(as a service user),

I was taken early to see the Doctor who sent me for an x-ray on my right wrist and also advised another member of staff to take my bloods for suitability of MRI or CT scan.

This member of staff was very good and listened to me when I explained how difficult it is to get blood from me as my veins are small and deep. She managed on the third attempt to get blood from my hand.

The Doctor could perhaps write down any information as I find him difficult to understand. I am uneasy asking him to repeat himself as he seems to have quite a brusque manner.

Thank you for taking the time to send us some feedback following your visit to Dr Grays Hospital and I am delighted to hear that the nurse listened to your difficulties in accessing blood from you, which helped with a successful result in the end.

I am sorry that you struggled to understand the consultant during your review and that you did not feel comfortable asking them to repeat themselves. I have shared this with the serivce management team, who are also sorry that this happened. However, we have contacted the orthopaedic secretaries and asked, that should you give them a call with your personal details, they will look up your appointment and read out the consultants review to you, so that you are aware of what is planned. If you would like to do this, please contact them on 01343 567017.

I hope this will help you with some reassurance as to what is happening and again, I am sorry that this has caused you some anxiety during your visit.
