I have been a patient of the Respiratory Clinic (Clinic C) at ARI for almost 10 years and in that time, I have always been well taken care of. Between Clinic C and Ward 107, it's very well coordinated and one of the most patient-centred experiences I've had in all my time dealing with chronic illness.
I have a wonderful relationship with my main consultant, Dr Miller – he's one of the most professional, caring, thoughtful and trustworthy doctors I can rely on. He, his colleagues and his whole team in Clinic C, from the oxygen specialists to the psychologists and dieticians, are wonderful.
Particularly last year in 2024, when I had a downward spiral with my health, the team + Ward 107 were very responsive and agile and catered to all my needs. But most of all, they are kind and warm and did everything in their power to help me survive an incredibly tough time. Because of them, I'm now on the transplant list and may potentially have another chance at life. Words can't express how grateful I am to them.
Credit must also go to all the doctors and nurses in Ward 107 for their flexibility and always providing me with good advice, whether it was over the phone or when I was admitted into their ward; they really took the best care of me each and every time. The nurses were always very chatty and took their time; it didn't feel rushed or like I was just another number in hospital. Because I was in there for months on and off, they all got to know me and my parents, and vice versa. If I needed help getting up and about or getting changed and showered, it was met with gentle and tender care.
Very accommodating. I always tell people how the ARI is one of my favourite hospitals (out of the many I've been to!). Someone else I know from Glasgow shares the same sentiment... he goes as an inpatient sometimes, but he feels exactly the same about ARI, so much that he travels here to get the care in Aberdeen instead. So everyone there should be proud of that – it's a testament to the quality of care that is provided!
As a result of their care and going to the ends of the earth to help me, I'm in a much stronger position today, have recovered a lot of my strength back, feel more in control of my life, and blessed to be here, continuing to embrace life itself.
Thank you Dr.Miller + All Clinic C Staff + All Ward 107 Staff - You're Simply Amazing!
Much Love.
