"Doctor was very pleasant, approachable, and courteous"

About: Mater Hospital / Elective Overnight stay centre (EOSC)

(as a service user),

I attended for biopsy of perforation of nasal septum at the overnight stay ward at Belfast Mater Hospital. I arrived early morning appointment team and was immediately brought to the ward and all the relevant information gathering was completed by nurse, anaesthetist, doctors etc and consultant Dr Hampton and her team.

I was anxious about my procedure due to previous concerns by other consultants about the ability for me to have anaesthetic due to other major health complications. Dr Hampton reassured me about the procedure and gave me the confidence to proceed.  Dr Hampton was very pleasant, approachable, very genuine and courteous in her conversation projecting a real expression of empathy and really knows her game.

I just want to thank Dr Hampton and her team for a much better day at hospital than I anticipated and I am grateful to all her team with special thanks to Nurse Shiny. Oh nearly forgot to add that the NHS always provides the best toast and raspberry jam.

Congratulations to all staff on the ward and in theatre!  thank you.

Hi aquilace66,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your positive experience at the Elective Overnight Stay Centre in the Mater.

I'm delighted to hear that the team took the time to listen to your fears about having the procedure, taking into account your existing health concerns and were able to reassure you and answer any questions that you had.

I will make sure that I pass on your comments to Dr Hampton, theatres and the nursing teams, they will be delighted to have such positive feedback.

Toast with raspberry jam always tastes great when freshly prepared after surgery, glad you enjoyed it!

Best Wishes,

Sharon
