"It has been a lifeline, a true support for the whole family"

About: Fife Community Services / Children's Community Nursing

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter has just outgrown this service and it has been an absolute joy to have been part of the CDC.

My daughter and I have felt at home there. The ladies in the Leven team are exceptional! They are warm, smiling and welcoming, It has been a great service for us. The ladies in session have assessed my daughter’s needs regularly and always been transparent in their knowledge and sharing of information.

The key workers in the CDC sessions, provide little golden nuggets of advice on how to best interact with our ASN children, how to get the best from them despite the barriers. It has been a place where we can go and feel accepted as we are. The weekly sessions are great for touching base, asking questions and overall sharing the ASN journey together.

We have managed to engage face to face with SALT because of the CDC, the helpline is great but you worry you may not be giving them the information they need without them seeing the child in action/person.

My daughter has benefitted from an Early Entrants placement, this is something we would not have received without their input. Regular multi-agency meetings have taken place to ensure all adults supporting my daughter have known the plan and targets set for her under the SHANARRI headings.

My daughter was referred to community paediatrics through the CDC. This will eventually help us with a diagnosis and more genetic information.

During the holidays my older child has been welcome to activities alongside my daughter. This was great as it meant I did not need to find childcare and was able to consistently attend throughout the summer. The activities over the holidays varied with sessions taking place at a variety of parks and child friendly places around fife.

We really did not want our time with the CDC to end. The service has been amazing from start to finish. I cannot explain how much I have valued having access to the CDC, it has been a lifeline, a true support for the whole family.

Thank you CDC Leven

Dear Mum0233,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experiences of the child development centre. I am pleased to hear how much the team has meant to you and your daughter.

I am delighted to hear that you felt welcomed, supported, and understood throughout your time with us. The team works hard to create a space where families feel accepted and informed, and your feedback is very much appreciated. We’re especially pleased that the sessions, advice, and multi-agency support helped your daughter access the services she needed.

The summer activities are designed to provide whole family support during the holiday period and am glad that your older daughter was able to join in the activities and this was found to be beneficial.

Although your time with the CDC has ended, please do not hesitate to contact us if your require any further advice during the nursery years

Wishing you and your family all the very best,
