"Fantastic service"

About: Mid-Ulster Hospital / Minor Injuries Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter had gone over on her ankle. Her foot was bruised and I was concerned it may be fractured. I made an appointment for Magherafelt Minor injuries unit and had to leave home almost immediately to get there in time.

From walking in to the unit, to seeing a nurse, having a number of x-rays taken and having the foot bandaged was a total of 18 mins. This is an amazing service which we've used a number of times in the past and always had the same prompt service and staffed with friendly staff.

Sadly my son a few months ago had to go to A&E in another hospital for a minor ailment and having waited more than 5 hours with not even a chair to sit on he decided to leave and not be treated.

Hello hawkex74

My name is Victoria McCrory and I am the Assistant Clinical Services Manager for MUH MIU. I am sorry to hear that your daughter had recently sustained an injury which required further assessment and treatment.

I am delighted to hear that whilst attending the MUH MIU that your daughter had a positive experience, reporting a prompt service delivered by friendly staff.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this positive feedback. I will ensure that your feedback is shared with the staff in the MUH MIU and I know it will be appreciated. Positive feedback is essential in reminding staff of the fabulous care they continue to deliver.

I am sorry to hear that your son had less positive experience in an A+E in another hospital. This is not ideal, however due to continued pressures on emergency departments, delays in assessment and treatment occur. I wish to assure you that regionally work is ongoing to help reduce the pressures on emergency departments to help ensure those who require urgent care receive it more promptly.

I hope your daughter continues to make a strong recover.

Yours Sincerely

Victoria McCrory

ACSM MUH MIU
