I came on my break as on my appointment letter it said it would take ten minutes. I get a 45 minute lunch break so you’d think that’s plenty of time. At the time of writing I have now been here over 2 hours waiting for my ultrasound.

I have let people I work with down not on purpose, as I was supplied with false information and I am furious. Horrible service. For something that is already a very stressful situation has been heightened!

So sorry to hear of your experience. It would appear that you received misinformation.

Whilst a breast screening appointment (mammogram only) takes just about 10 minutes our fast lane services are very different. Our letter usually states to leave 3 hours for a fast lane breast appointment. I don't know why your letter was incorrect but if you forward it in to the unit we can investigate how that error occurred.

The reason for the three hour appointment is that you don't just come for an ultrasound but for a clinical examination and whatever imaging or interventional procedures required. Whilst we strive to see people quickly our main concern is that everyone gets the services that they require and can leave with a diagnosis or follow-up appointment. Once again apologies that you did not receive the care that you expected and I hope that you had a positive result.

If you forward your appointment letter for my attention I will look into how this error occurred.
