Hello! I had my son in early April. Sorry I'm just getting around now to do feedback! But I wanted to give a message of thanks and gratitude. From my labour starting to my unexpected mode of birth the midwives and staff at Ninewells were absolutely amazing. I was crying severely at one point as I was so anxious, but the staff, and in particular the female anethetist was really reassuring and so kind.
My midwife for the experience was Colleen, whom made me feel so at ease and that anything I thought maybe made me sound silly she would make sure I had all the information and questions answered. Her particular use of the words 'choice' and 'advocate' honestly made me want to get up and cuddle her. There was no judgement in the choices I made only positive support and as Colleen said whatever decisions I made she would 'advocate' my choices.
For a first time mum and with social media / general media the stigma around birth etc can really confuse you/make you feel unnecessary pressures for 'natural' birth. I felt none of that was reflected, only my own personal birth experience with someone who filled me with confidence and felt a really quick relationship and rapport was made.
I would also like to thank Jo from night shift who got me the classic tea and toast! We had a good chat too and very quickly I felt we connected positively. Which again, makes the whole experience a smooth and positive outcome.
So thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know I made the right decision to have my baby at Ninewells. I can't remember everyone's names but I truly thank you for your outstanding services. People are always quick to highlight the negative things but why not highlight the amazing positive points. I replay the whole experience over and over not in a traumatic way but in complete awe. Obviously meeting my baby boy was the best part but every part leading up and after made it. The only downside was the stocking given to me were too small which if I'm honest made me happy 😂made me feel skinny lol.
"In complete awe"
