"Denied help again"

About: Adult Mental Health Services / Adult Community Mental Health Service

(as a service user),

I have been getting support from Inverclyde Mental Health Services on and off for about 10 years now. During this time I have been denied access to other treatments multiple times.

After finally being allowed to see a psychiatrist to help with ongoing, recurrent symptoms and episodes on severe dips in my mental health, I was given only a referral to occupational health. I was told by the consultant psychiatrist that they didn't think changing my medication or upping my dose would help me. I was given no referral to other mental health services, no help or support in the mean time, and no plan to combat my current dip which has left me off of work for 2 months so far and being unable to care for myself to the point that I have had to move back in with my mum.

I have fought and fought to get help at every single point in my mental health journey, and to get this result after trying every service offer to me (after fighting for help in the first place), trying several anti-depressants across 3 different classifications and being on the highest dose of medication that my GP is able to offer, is utterly heartbreaking and quite frankly disgusting.

I'm left with feelings of sheer hopelessness and not a single thing in place to combat this ongoing battle of depression.

I genuinely don't understand how I've been systematically failed again and again by a service that should be life-saving for me. And the worst part is that there is nothing I can do but put myself in massive amounts of debt to go private for treatment, or continue to be miserable.
