"I was impressed by the understanding and empathy"

About: Children and Young People's Services / CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service)

(as a parent/guardian),

Each of my three daughters has been assessed for a variety of neurodiversity conditions by CAMHS NHS Borders.  The care and professionalism with which they were all treated was exemplary.  We had to wait over a year since referral for the third daughter's assessment, which was too long, though as soon as she was in the system, things moved quickly.  I was impressed by the understanding and empathy shown by the doctors, and the effect it has had on their education (for the first two) has been transformative.  I fully expect it will help my third daughter too.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. It sounds like your family has been through a significant journey, and I’m really glad to hear that the care your daughters received from our CAMHS service was compassionate and professional. I am sorry for the delay in your third daughter's assessment and thank for your patience, this must have been difficult especially knowing how transformative the support was for your other two daughters, but it’s heartening to hear that once she was in the system, things progressed quickly and positively.

It’s clear how much you value the impact this support has had on your daughters’ education and wellbeing. I hope your third daughter experiences the same positive outcomes as her sisters.

best wishes and thanks again for sharing this positive experience.
