"I get made to do things I don't feel like doing"

About: Community Services (Adult Physical Health) / Community Inpatient Hazel Ward

(as the patient),

My experience was good, I found it helpful.

Some staff were shouty but it encouraged me to get up!

Liked visiting times -They are flexible

Only negative is being made to take lots of laxatives, and I get made to do things I don't feel like doing.

Hi skyde53,

I am Sarah, the ward manager from Hazel ward. Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know about your experience of Hazel ward.

I am glad to hear that overall you have found your time on Hazel ward to be good and that it was helpful to you. We realise that being able to have as much time with friends and relatives whilst you are away from your home is vital to recovery, which is why we have set the visiting times to be as flexible as we can.

I am sorry to hear that you found that some staff were shouty whilst they were encouraging you, and that you were made to do things that you didn't want to do. Doing things is part of physical rehabilitation, however no-one should be made to do anything that they do not want to do. I will speak to all members of the team and ask them to reflect on ways in which people can be encouraged without being shouty.

Once again thank you for this feedback,it is very valuable.

Sarah
