The nurses were all excellent, Grace, the one from Magherafelt and the lady from India.
Mr Donaldson was helpful in his pre-op conversation. Mr Karamitsos was very helpful and reassuring in his pre-op conversation. However initially I was shocked and disappointed when he told me that it was to be an open hernia repair rather than laparoscopic. From my first consultation with Mr Gudyma I was told that it would be laparoscopic. But Mr Karamitsos was very reassuring and I was happy to go with his professional judgment.
The results have been excellent. From discharge, I have felt a little discomfort at the wound, with only slight pain on movement. I haven’t needed to take any pain relief and slept quite well last night.
So a very sincere thank you to you all.
Two comments:
I had to wait over 5 years for this surgery. As Mr Karamitsos said, if it had been done sooner, the hernia and incision would have been much smaller.
There is a question mark over whether I am allergic to penicillin or not. I think it would be useful to have this confirmed one way or the other.
