I am a male in my 60s who has over the last three months developed a “lump” in my left breast. After being referred by my local medical group I attended Lincoln County Hospital Breast Unit. I cannot but praise the attentiveness, professionalism and genuine people focused approach from all the staff that I met. Efficiently and politely welcomed at reception I was swiftly escorted by Val who took me through the process that I would experience and then introduced me to Andrea, the specialist breast physician.
Throughout the mammogram and ultrasound processes the staff were exceptionally kind and helped to put me at ease at every stage. For me, the diagnosis was one that had no further implications than an aging male with overactive fat cells increasing my breast tissue. However, the articulate and logical explanation of the presentation of my body change was wonderfully delivered by Andrea.
I have spent some 35 years in the RAF where I received medical treatment through the Defence Medical Services; I can say without reservation that the care I received today was on a par with what I have experienced in the Services. Well done to all at the Lincoln County Breast Unit; your compassion and professionalism are of the highest order. Thank you.
