"Impossible to rest because of the noise"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Critical Care Unit / Medical High Dependancy Unit

(as the patient),

I want to make it very clear that I have nothing but praise and appreciation for the staff of CCU at Wishaw General Hospital.  I was a patient there for 2-3 days recently.

The care was second to none, and I can't thank the staff enough for everything that was done for me. However, I asked to be discharged earlier than expected because I was distressed by the constant loud tv from an adjoining cubicle. I found it impossible to rest because of the noise. I believe that in that particular situation,  where beds are separated only by curtains,  which cannot contain noise, television sets are unnecessary and intrusive. It might be different in individual rooms, where a door can be closed,  but in the curtained cubicles, even earplugs were no use. Again, please be aware I have absolutely no complaints regarding the staff, but I hope I never have to suffer the situation again.

Dear Ellgee68,

Thank you for sharing your experience of University Hospital Wishaw, Critical Care Unit.

I am delighted to hear that you received such excellent care from the staff while you were admitted. I am sure that this will have helped to reassure you during such a worrying time. I am very sorry to hear about the noise issue with the television in the next door cubicle. I can understand that the noise would have been disturbing and prevent you from resting properly.

If you would like us to investigate this further, and provide you with a personal response, then please contact our Patient Affairs department on the below email.

I hope you are feeling better.

Best Wishes,

Jenni
