I attended the clinic mid August to see Miss Boyd. I had to have a basil cell carcinoma removed from my ear lobe. I was obviously slightly apprehensive but I had already had several similar rodent ulcers removed both privately and on the NHS.
I was extremely impressed by the whole procedure. I was given a very pleasant welcome and taken through promptly for an initial examination. I know this might seem trivial, but this has been the first time in many visits that someone has given me a gown and actually tied it for me at the back.
The doctor ( unfortunately I cannot recall his name) explained thoroughly the procedure which was to follow. He then carried out the operation and his assistants made me feel at ease during the procedure.
After the operation I was shown into a private space to ensure that I was fit to drive. The nurse Fiona made me a cup of tea and could not have been more helpful.
The whole set up of the Oral and Maxillofacial Unit is extremely impressive and having its own theatre is so beneficial
I should like to congratulate everyone involved for the very high standards set in this unit.
