"Maternity services - Labour and Delivery"

About: South West Acute Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I was induced on Wednesday and my little boy was delivered the next afternoon. From the moment that we arrived in fetal assessment until the moment we were discharged the care was EXCEPTIONAL. We were saying that every single individual that was part of our care, from the consultant, midwife, HCA, porters to the catering staff, everyone was so helpful, kind and compassionate. Their care made what was going to be an worrying and uncertain time into a happy memorable time.

The encouragement the girls showed to me throughout labour was on another level to what I had experienced previously at a different hospital and without it I can see myself falling at the first hurdle and requesting a section. They made my hopes for a VBAC possible. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for delivering us a healthy baby boy. We will be eternally grateful for the excellent care. It's such a pity that you dont hear enough of these positive stories because we know first hand that they exist!!

Dear falconqm48

Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy. Thank you so much for taking the time to write about your experience in the maternity unit in the SWAH.

It is always wonderful to hear when the experience has been so positive. I have passed on your lovely words to the staff within the department.

I wish you and your family the very best for the future.

Kind Regards

Mairead McKenna
