"I thoroughly enjoyed my labour at home"

About: Maternity care / Community Midwives

(as the patient),

After a traumatic first birth experience I was reluctant to give birth in a hospital again. I decided to go with a home birth and it drastically improved my pregnancy and birth experience.

The continuity of care throughout my pregnancy and the chance to meet everyone in the team helped to build a trusting relationship with my midwife and the other team members. They all knew about my previous experience and were very proactive with discussions on how to support my husband and I.

I thoroughly enjoyed my labour at home, although I did need to transfer into the hospital which was the worst cause scenario for me, but the home birth team knew this and were incredibly supportive and helpful. They advocated for me and were with me until my baby was born. I can't thank the team enough. Although my birth ended in a section I loved my labour at home and I'm so glad that I had that experience. It was very empowering and beautiful.

If you aren't sure about a home birth I would encourage you to meet with the team, they genuinely love their job and it shows.

Dear Natk93,

Congratulations on the birth of your baby, I hope you are enjoying this special time.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to feedback your experience of receiving care and support, from our Birth at Home team. It is reassuring to hear that despite you having to come in to the hospital, you remained supported by the team, which ensured continuity of your care.

I will share your kind words with the team who will be delighted to hear your positive words.

Wishing you and your family best wishes.

from

Pamela
