I went to Ulster Hospital for a colonoscopy, and I was really dreading it. I was incredibly worried, but I had a lovely admission nurse, Hilary, who helped ease my nerves.
Unfortunately, due to my anxiety, I couldn’t remember much of my experience or the staff during the procedure itself. However, the wonderful Claire in recovery explained that the scope was passed through the rectum all the way around the large colon, stopping at the entrance to the small bowel.
She explained my diagnosis of diverticular disease and provided me with some literature. I must say, I didn’t expect to come away so educated. Well done!
