"Treatment for Basal cell carcinoma"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Dermatology

(as a service user),

I visited my GP at The Oaks in Cookstown NI as I was concerned about a growth on my face very close to my eye. The doctor examined the growth & then referred me for a biopsy.

My appointment was at The Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. A member of staff took the trouble to walk me to my destination after I found myself lost in this huge building.

I was seen by Dr Curragh who explained the procedure to me in a kind gentle manner.

The biopsy showed a Basal Cell Carcinoma.

My next appointment was for a pre op assessment & within 2weeks I had my operation to remove the growth.

This whole process took less than 6 months from start to finish.

The treatment i received was outstanding. Every person involved in my case showed care compassion & professionalism.

I was naturally anxious about the process but I can not fault the care I’ve received from our wonderful NHS.
