I attended Daisy Hill hospital A&E in February with gallbladder pain. I was seen promptly and after a few hours was transferred by ambulance to Ward 3 in Craigavon hospital where I remained for 10 days having various tests done.
Although busy, the care I received was excellent from both the nursing staff and doctors. Everything was explained to me very clearly and I had to return at the end of February for an endoscopy. Again I was extremely anxious but the care was excellent. I was told that I would be put on an urgent list for surgery.
I was admitted to the Elective Surgery Unit of Daisy Hill Hospital early August for gallbladder surgery under Mr Hashmi. Mel, the nurse put me at ease and explained what was going to happen. The staff in the theatre couldn’t have done anything more to reassure me, they were so kind. Back on the ward I was well looked after and remained overnight to ensure that my oxygen levels were stable. I can’t speak highly enough of this unit. I have been very fortunate to have had my operation so quickly as I know that some folk have been waiting for longer. I hope that this unit will be able to reduce some of the waiting times.
"I can’t speak highly enough of them"
