Hi I am a service user in derby cygnet low secure hospital I'm writing to say that I went out with the occupational therapy group along with some of my peers and we headed off to the beach in Blackpool, I had a paddle in the sea and had fish and chips. It was a really nice day out and I enjoyed getting time off the ward as its been a bit acute, there has been some struggles and it's not pleasant how ever I've been reassured by the staff that they are there if I need them so that's a bit of a relief.
One of my peers moved recently to supported living in the community so that's great and I'm very happy for them. It's time for them, they have done very well.
On the plus side I am hoping to hear sooner rather than later about my unescorted leave the team are working hard to get me moved on lol. I think I will be going to supported living as well in the community, I've been in services a long time now over 12 years it's been 8 years or so that I've been stable on my medication, it's a scary place to be in hospital. When feeling unwell when start to feel better have nothing but thanks to the NHS and cygnet private health care and I hope that things go well from now onwards and hope to try to do some charity shop work once have unescorted and then do some studying if I can.
I would like to become a peer support worker and study that role as this is great opportunity to help other and I think it is a paid role lol seya
