"Friendly, kind and supportive"

About: Community Nursing / Diabetes Nursing

(as a relative),

The Community Nurse Team from Barrhead Health Centre have been attending my father in law daily since 2021.

We had been struggling to manage his type 2 diabetes alongside dementia, and the Diabetic Nurse specialist put us in touch with the community nurses who quickly took over administering insulin and my father in law’s diabetes has remained stable ever since.

They have always been friendly, kind, supportive and regularly go out of their way to help out when he has other health concerns, and support us to make informed choices regarding his health care. I always feel listened to and that my concerns are heard. They are on speed dial on my phone because they always know the best way to access the services we need and I always feel confident we will be signposted to the correct support.

They always go over and above, helping my mother in law understand what is happening, making breakfast if she is ill herself, noticing behaviour changes which suggest yet another infection, supporting the care team to fulfil their tasks when the situation breaks down.

Without them my father in law would certainly not have been able to celebrate his recent birthday in his own home.

Thank you to each and every member of the team. You are our angels and we would not have made it this far without you.

Dear KScarer

Thank you very much for your feedback, I am delighted to hear of the great service you have experienced from the Barrhead District Nursing service. In your feedback it is clear the wonderful support they have been to your mother and father in law.

It is great to see that with the support from the District nursing team, Your father in Law's diabetes remained stable and you all felt your concerns were valued and acted upon.

It was great that your father in law got to have his recent birthday at home with his family.

Kind regards

Margaret Ann O'Donnell
