I recently had to take my elderly sister to the Ulster Hospital, Belfast after she had recently been diagnosed with cancer at her local hospital. In addition to this condition, my sister suffers severely with arthritis in both knees and requires the use of a wheelchair. When I arrived at the drop off point, I went in and registered my sister's arrival. There were no porters available for outside, so the receptionist, called Elizabeth, got a wheelchair, came out to the car, helped me get the patient into the chair, and wheeled her inside. I had to take my sister to the same hospital again recently, but unfortunately I was told to take her to the same location as the last time. This was a mistake and the proper location was some distance away. Elizabeth phoned for a porter. Elizabeth stayed with me and made several calls to the porters, explaining that my sister was seriously ill. During all this time she made sure my sister was comfortable and apologised for the long wait. I felt that Elizabeth went beyond the call of duty and could not do enough for me and my sister.
