"Long wait for routine appointment"

About: Outpatients Services / Level 7 Outpatients

(as a carer),

Appointment recently was for mid afternoon. A  10 minute routine appointment, which turned into waiting over 2 hours and still not seen. Although other people seen even whenever there appointment was after us. No explanation by any member of staff. So unfriendly I found it a disgrace. Too warm in the waiting area.

Hi Anndonnely11111, thank you for your comment and for bringing this to my attention.

I can only apologise that you and the patients experience throughout level 7 Outpatients department was not a good experience.

More than a two hour wait for any appointment is unacceptable, as I am unaware of which clinic use were attending or which consultant, I will address this with all consultants within Level 7 Outpatients. I have also spoken with all nursing staff to highlight the importance of good communication and keeping patients and carers/ family members informed of any clinic that is running behind.

Unfortunately by complying with guidance from the trust all windows have to remain closed due to ongoing building works. We have fans in place to try and cool the area and a water font located in the main lobby to keep all hydrated. Due to the good weather we have been experiencing I can agree that the waiting area can get very warm at times. I have advised all staff to ensure that water is offered and made available throughout the day.

Once again thank you for your comment and I hope that your experience of level 7 Outpatients in the future will be vastly improved.

Kind Regards

Nichola

Sister of level 7A &7B Outpatients
