"The overall impression I took away was respect"

About: Freeman Hospital / Colorectal surgery

(as a service user),

I've recently had my bowels inspected for untowardnesses. The team were absolutely great from start to finish. What could have been an uncomfortable humiliation was instead a seamless experience carried with genuine goodwill, full and frank information, and great gentleness. I've had worse flights on budget airlines.

Post-procedure, the information obtained was explained to my partner and I. The Freeman's colorectal department positively encourages loved ones into the loop. On the one hand a trouble shared is a trouble halved. On the other, there's someone there to remember stuff, as unwelcome surprises can often overwhelm. In this case, I wasn't too bothered. What ever was found was found early.

The follow ups are fast as well. I'm due further imaging within 14 days.

The overall impression I took away was respect. Respect for patients, relatives, and colleagues. I've worked for unhappy organisations, and the team I met was a real team.

I would recommend the Freeman to anyone. I would also recommend you don't have a massive kebab afterwards.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback regarding your recent experience at the RVI for your colorectal surgery. We are pleased that you found the team to be great from start to finish and the staff explained everything clearly to you and your partner. We will forward your comments to the department concerned, who will share with the team involved in your care.
