"The Hospital at Home Service"

About: Older People’s Services / Hospital at Home Northern Sector

(as a relative),

Last week my father was taken very ill and was referred to the Hospital at Home team from the Londonderry/ Derry area by his GP. From the moment of referral, we were given a first class service by a very dedicated team which we were incredibly thankful for. This is a service which were totally unaware of prior to this and it is something which is an invaluable service to the community and one which ensured my father would not have to go through the treatment / admissions procedure at Hospital which would have been incredibly stressful and also exacerbating an already stretched NHS. As a family we cannot thank the team enough and thoroughly recommend the strengthening and expanding of this service if at all possible.

Thank you for your kind feedback.

Prevention of admission to the hospital is one of the main aims of the team. Patients improve much quicker at home as they are treated in their own surroundings and at lower risk of picking up further infections.

Each staff member has their own unique set of skills and always work to a very high standard to deliver care and treatment.

I agree that the team is a vital service to the community and should grow in numbers.

I will pass on you feedback to all the staff.

Kind regards

Katherine Stevenson

Sister
