Firstly Glen and Fi. Working in a&e at the mater hospital thank you so much for being amazing people. Every time my gran has attended hospital shes been treated differently due to dementia which i witnessed. That then led to anxiety when shes to go to hospital, so every time shes been in hospital because iv only ever witnessed her being misunderstood. So I felt ok I need to be there with her so I can then explain to the staff what she wants or needs.
But today that changed. I stepped out while they gave gran an ecg!! What my ears heard while I waited genuinely filled my heart. They talked her through each thing bit by bit even though she wouldn't understand some things. They treated her no different than they would orhers. She was talking with them which is absolutely crazy as shes funny who she chats with. But to stand and hear how they communicated with her is something else. They gave me that little bit more confidence and less anxiety about leaving her.
They are a credit to the NHS and I truly mean that. Even after they left granny I seen them here and there checking in on other patients etc. The change that clicked with me to night. Ment I could come home knowing shes in good hands. Not all hero's wear capes is what should be said. Again thank you for what u done without even knowing.
