Sub dural haematoma and bilateral burr hole drainage ward 66 Queen Elizabeth Glasgow
In February I started having headaches and being sick, after going to my GP twice I was sent to Glasgow royal infirmary where I had a CT scan and a MRI which showed I had a subdural haematoma. I was transferred to Glasgow Queen Elizabeth hospital as they have a neurology department, I was in for 10 days and had a blood patch in the hopes it would help, but 2 weeks later I had to go back in for burr hole surgery and another blood patch. I was in for a further 3 weeks.
I felt scared and uncertain of the outcome but I also felt in safe hands with my neurosurgeon Mr Mathieson and the team in ward 66 all the staff were amazing especially charge nurse Arlene, I feel she really became my rock, she just understood me. All the nurses especially Ash, Jamie-Leigh and Anna, were fantastic, the healthcare assistant Christina and Lisa and Jasper to name a few but actually everyone on this ward took care of me in which was a very scary time of my life. They showed such patience, empathy, care and kindness which I don't think they realise how much this helped me in those weeks of uncertainty.
"They showed such patience, empathy, care and kindness"
