I have used the Advanced Chronic Liver Diseases service at Kings Hospital, since being diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis and Cirrhosis in January 2022.
All of the team have always been very helpful, explained options to me and most importantly listened to my concerns and queries. One particular member of the team, the Clinical Nurse Specialist Alejandro, has always been helpful, both when at the outpatients clinic, and when I need to make contact from home. He makes sure the local GP blood test results I provide are added to my notes, ensures that I can get prescriptions for medications only available from the hospital, even arranging delivery as it is difficult to attend the hospital. He also takes the time to explain the reasons and meaning of the results from the tests that he carries out once my consultation has completed. The last time I contacted him was to try and find out if I could get my routine surveillance tests carried out on the same day. He provided me with the appointments email addresses and telephone numbers so I could try and make more efficient use of my time at the hospital by covering multiple appointments on one day. I now have my routine Ultrasound booked on the morning of my PSC Outpatients clinic appointment, so I only need to make one journey to the hospital, and reduce the amount of annual leave I have to use for appointments.
"Very helpful and has gone above and beyond"
