End of May, at 34 weeks and 2 days pregnant, my wife felt some pain and we decided to call the hospital, where she had been receiving prenatal care.
We went to the C.L.U. in Kirkcaldy, where some tests were performed, and we were almost cleared to go home when a nurse named Kirsty decided to do one last test, which revealed that my wife was already 7 cm dilated. The baby was on her way. Kirsty stayed with us for a long time, and we would like to thank her for all the special care she and the other nurses gave my wife and later my daughter. Unfortunately, I won't be able to name all the angels who were there with us that night, but know that I am grateful to each and every one of you.
So, after the birth of my beloved daughter, she had to go to the Neonatal Unit for two weeks, and there began an incredible journey. And that journey was so incredible that from then on, I will never again allow anyone to complain about the NHS.
My daughter needed intensive care for 14 days, and during some of those days, my wife and I were able to be there, but unfortunately, due to the capacity of the Neonatal ward, there came a time when my wife was discharged, but not my baby. If it weren't for the nurses who worked so hard for our daughter our burden would have been much heavier. They are truly incredible people, very attentive, very caring, extremely loving, and they deserve absolutely everything good!
Once again, I will be a little unfair in mentioning names, because there were countless people who helped us. But I must mention Chloe, who was the one who received my daughter on her first day in the Neonatal Unit. Rachel, Laura, and Lauren were our foundation during a very delicate time.
Finally, I would like to formally thank the NHS and all these incredible women who helped us.
Here is a big hug from a father, a mother and an incredible daughter to the entire team at the Victoria Hospital Maternity Ward in Kirkcaldy.
"They are truly incredible people"
