"From the very start dealing with them was hard work"

About: Cambridge IVF

(as a service user),

My husband was referred for NHS funded IVF treatment at Cambridge IVF.

I have had my eggs collected here and have 5 embryos frozen ready for transfer.

We had nothing but issues with clinic.

I have serious concerns about the standards at Cambridge IVF.

I have never experienced such unprofessional and irresponsible care as I have with Cambridge IVF clinic.

My husband and I have had private IVF before so have experience in what is usually involved. We unfortunately haven't had a successful treatment.

Our issue is a male only factor.

From my side we have not had any issues, all cycles gone through to the point implantation without issue until we came to Cambridge IVF.

After paying for previous cycles and waiting four years my husband and I were so happy to have been accepted for a NHS supported service, we were using this treatment as our last attempt.

Being an NHS funded treatment we were given no choice on where we able to go it just happened to be Cambridge IVF.

From the very start dealing with the clinic was a hard work.

We were constantly asked to do the same things over and over again, three times I had to collate our records from treatments as they wanted this information for there records. Baring in mind it was all sent via email so how this information has been lost is beyond me.

After a slow process, which we were forgiving about, the treatment got worse. Delays were alleged to be caused by staffing levels.

On a review call mid May with the clinic, prior to actually starting the with medication or IVF, I'd advised that the only medication I had a slight issue with was with menotropin.

Early June I received a copy of the prescription listing medications I would taking, and the medication brand I've had previous issues with was listed. This isn't an essential medication as I've had egg collections without this medication following the bad reaction.

Before medication was sent out, I asked for a consultant to speak with me, I was never contacted and had the medication sent to me with instructions on how and when to start.

I wasn't given any choice it was either take medications against my better judgement or no IVF.

As expected, problems happened.

I couldn't have an embryo transfer.

I have never had any issues with other clinics, we have had no complications and was listened to. This has been beyond a mess.

I feel like my eggs/embryo's have been stolen!

We have never received consistent information, every single time I speak to someone they relay different information.

At the egg collection I was advised that potentially a FET transfer would be required. I stated I was unhappy with this information as we were always meant to have a fresh. I was assured that if it were to be frozen this would take place on my next cycle.

The Saturday after getting the prescription it was confirmed it would definitely be a frozen transfer. Almost a week of being unsure.

On the Sunday I was advised that I wouldn’t have an appointment until September.

This meant that it was yet another lie that the transfer would take place on the following cycle.

Then on the Monday I was called with an offer of an appointment early September for a next steps phone call.

This means that not only would I miss the late August cycle by the time I would be seen person we would miss the September cycle.

I addressed this at the time as was told it was the only appointment they had.

Based on following calls it is apparent that it was decided at my appointment late July before collection they knew they wouldn’t be doing a fresh transfer.

The whole way through we have been told that we would have two Embryos implanted. Then early August it was advised that it would be 1.

As stated there has been not consistent information throughout.
