"Waiting time for scan results"

I had a CT scan following various debilitating symptoms. I was informed by two members of staff that I should receive the results in around 3 weeks.

After this period had passed, I contacted my consultant who informed me that results were taking 8 weeks to come through. This is obviously a stressful time with ongoing symptoms affecting my work and life.

I don't understand the timescales involved and am disappointed in the misinformation. I have to wait for a confirmed diagnosis before making decisions around work and previously booked holiday.
