On Monday end of July I was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres hospital with recurrent vomiting, high temperature and was unable to speak!
I spent 4 days in the intensive care unit unable to speak nor recognise any of my family. I had numerous tests, scans and a Lumber Puncture, however nothing was coming back conclusive. I finally became lucid on day 4 to my families shock and relief.
I spent the next few days on a regular ward attached to numerous drips 24/7! Also receiving an MRI, which I’m still waiting to hear from neuro about as it showed some abnormalities. I am now slowly recovering with my family but it’s slow progress, I have been left with extreme fatigue and exhaustion but I’ll be fighting fit soon.
I’d like to give a huge thanks to all the staff at hairmyers for the exceptional care and support i received! Especially to team in ITU, the care was exceptional, especially to staff nurse Chloe and Leanne! Being a nurse myself! Giving personal care is just part of the job but when it comes to you having this care carried out, you feel very vulnerable!
However I couldn’t have felt more comfortable with Chloe and Leanne! They were so dignified and respectful the whole time and I cannot thank them enough!
From A&E triage to ITU to the ward 10 was all nothing but exceptional! Hairmyers hospital is a credit to nhs Lanarkshire .
"They were so dignified and respectful the whole time"
