"Made me smile during a hard time"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Emergency Medicine

(as a service user),

I tried to overdose one night recently. I called nhs 111 and told them about it they advised my angry parents to take me to hospital. We were in hospital for about 7 hours having tests done and doctors coming in and out. All the staff were amazing. I will never forget how nice they all were, one nurse said they were jealous of my crocs, that made me smile in a time I really didn’t want to be alive.

I went back to the hospital after a snowboarding injury not long ago and one of the nurses recognised me and immediately told the doctor he would take care of me, he was so nice and gave me a lot of pain relief

Dear Overdose Survivor:)

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
I am so pleased you felt the Emergency Department (ED) Team were so nice and it sounds as though they really put you at ease during what I imagine was a very difficult time for you.

I hope you recovered well from your recent snowboarding accident and plan to get out again in the mountains this winter!

I will ensure your kind words and experience are shared with the ED Team.

Best wishes

Lindsay MacLaren
