"The team was very helpful indeed"

About: Community services / Falls Prevention Service Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / First responder paramedic

(as a service user),

I fell during the night in my bedroom and was unable to get up. (Have had 6 fractures before from falls), so I pressed my personal alarm and an ambulance was requested. They were able to enter my house using my key safe.

The team was very helpful indeed and did a thorough check of my hip which was hurting. Fortunately, I did not have a fracture this time. A heart tracing was also done; a cup of tea made & a check of my walking. The team was very helpful indeed.

They reported my fall to a 'fall team' and a lovely nurse paid me a visit some days later, to check on my health. She also advised daily exercise 'move with Mary' which I have been doing to hopefully strengthen my legs and balance.

The local council have also called since and given me aids to make life safer and a full check done of my house.

I am so grateful for all my willing helpers. Thank you all so much indeed. (Hope I won't need to use you again!)

Good afternoon hotelmz75,

I would like to begin by thanking you for taking the time to share your experience of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. It was reassuring to learn of the thorough and compassionate approach adopted by the team. I would like to share your feedback with the clinicians who attended to you on the day and in order to locate them I would require the following information:

Date and approximate time of the incident. The address the ambulance was dispatched to.

If you are happy to share this information, I can be contacted at: Neil.gillan@nias.hscni.net

I wish you the best with your recuperation

Best wishes

Neil
