"Supporting family member with alcohol problem"

About: One Recovery Bucks / Aylesbury

(as a relative),

I reached out to One Recovery Bucks in Oct 2024 after a challenging time supporting a sibling with an alcohol problem. The support I received both in group and one to one has been incredibly valuable. I have learnt a great deal about the role alcohol can play in people’s lives as well as strategies to keep myself well and manage my boundaries. I was so frustrated and upset about the problem as my sibling had been sober for years and I didn’t know how best to deal with the difficulties. The support has been extensive and I feel well equipped to continue to deal with the situation in a positive way.

Thank you for your feedback. It’s clear how much strength and care you’ve shown in supporting your sibling, and it’s inspiring to hear how you’ve embraced the support and learned strategies to look after yourself. Your resilience and positive approach really shine through, and it’s wonderful to see you feeling equipped to handle the situation going forward.
