I had a total knee replacement at the end of October 2024. I was referred to Physiotherapy for ongoing support.
I was quickly picked up by this service at Gartnavel General Hospital. My physiotherapist Fabian was absolutely wonderful. He was very supportive, encouraging, patient, professional, challenging at times when I needed challenged.... always with a smile. He developed and honed exercises to meet my needs and progression on an ongoing basis. He helped me to believe in myself and gradually recover from this major operation whilst working positively towards a full recovery. This will allow me to get full use and benefit from my new knee and regain many activities I enjoy and most importantly my independence.
I was a walker before my knee became very painful. I haven't been able to enjoy walking or doing any physical activity other than swimming for over three years prior to knee replacement I can't thank Fabian enough for his support and professionalism throughout. He's a real asset to the Physiotherapy Department at Gartnavel Hospital.
He also referred me to Nicola in the Gartnavel Gym to help me to work through a gym programme designed by Fabian. What a wonderful service. Gaining access to onsite equipment was a real turning point for my knee. Coupled with a challenging programme and the support of Nicola helping me to believe in myself I wouldn't be as far along my recovery road.
Thank you again to all of you for all your support and keep up the great work you do.
"Wonderful support and encouragement from the physios"
