"I was not updated about a plan"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Acute Short Stay Medicine

(as the patient),

I was admitted to ward 103 via ED after being woken up by my partner who found me blue in the lips with a compromised airway. We went to ED due to the severity of my presumed tonsillitis affecting my breathing heavily and coul not swallow. I was then suddenly moved to the ward without any idea of a plan.

In the ward, I was not seen by a dr until 5 hours after arrival but I appreciate the busy state of the NHS. And even then I was not updated about a plan.

The next day I did not have any staff check on me unless it was time for prescribed medications, and even then, that was once or twice. It was quite isolating. My room was not cleaned at all, nor were my sheets changed.

In the end I was stable and improving so I got discharged after a few days but was left disappointed by the experience.
