"They made it such a positive experience"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital / Obstetrics (Maternity care) Peterhead Community Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I had my little boy in June, I had to be induced at Peterhead maternity unit, with a cooks balloon, midwives were lovely and kept me very informed and kept checking in as it was very painful, my balloon fell out around 2/3 hours later. I had to go in to Aberdeen maternity hospital.

I got called in mid evening, and Kay the midwife met me at the Labour ward door and walked me to the room. Kay was wonderful, with me. Again she kept me and my partner informed and kept me calm especially when he was born and being a first time mum panicked because he didn’t cry straight away. Donna who was also in the room when I delivered him was lovely and had a good chat with us. The whole team that were involved with my Labour, midwives, doctor, theatre staff were brilliant. My first birth was a wonderful one and I’m so glad I had the staff that were on, they made it such a positive experience

To first time parent,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re absolutely delighted to hear that your journey through induction and birth was supported with kindness, compassion, and clear communication.

It’s wonderful to know that the team at Peterhead Maternity Unit helped you feel informed and cared for during a challenging time, and that your transition to Aberdeen Maternity Hospital was met with the same warmth and professionalism. Kay, Donna, and all the staff involved will be so pleased to hear your kind words — it means a great deal to know they helped make your first birth a positive and memorable experience.

Welcoming your little boy into the world is such a special moment, and they will have been honoured to have been part of it.

Wishing you and your family all the very best as you begin this exciting new chapter together.

Warmest regards,
Chloe Ellison
Midwifery Team Leader, North Aberdeenshire and PCMU
