"Visit by community mental nurse"

About: Older People's Mental Health / South Perthshire Older People's Community Mental Health Team

(as the patient),

She visited me to assess my mental condition.

I felt apprehensive initially, the CMHN) allayed my fears about my memory loss.

She explained the evaluation process and subsequent processes.

Although it was mentioned that I had a head scan, I only had an x-ray and the feedback from that took several months to be received.

Dear The sailor

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am pleased to hear that our nurse was able to help ease your concerns and clearly explain the next steps during your assessment.

I am sorry to hear that there was a delay in receiving your feedback following head imaging, and for any confusion about the type of scan performed. I appreciate you highlighting this so that we can ensure that our communication is as clear as possible in the future. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to get in touch with me on the contact details below.

Your feedback is very valuable to us, and I will share it with the team to help us continue improving the care and information we provide.

Kind regards

Gayle Thomson

Update posted by The sailor (the patient)

The nurse has advised me that there is slight cognitive issues and that she will be contacting me in nine months time to reassess me, now that she has a baseline from which to work.

I listened to BBC podcast Crowd Science dated 25 July 2025 "Could technology Improve our brains"

One subject that was covered - memory loss and measures to address the problem using neural implants. I would be happy to undertake such research in memory improvement if it was considered appropriate.
