"I appreciate all that they did for me"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Stroke services

(as the patient),

In February 2025 I suffered a stroke which was a big shock to me and at the time I was unable to talk and walk, but luckily within a day I was able to stand on my feet. From then on I cannot thank the Medical staff of the stroke unit in the Barnstaple Hospital enough for their care, with me being wheeled into the Hospital to be analysed for my stroke, the care they gave me was good and got the physiotherapists to visit me at home. The physiotherapists were brilliant in getting me to walk again and giving me exercises to do and also encourage me to get better.

I know I am a lucky person to have recovered in the way that I have, I only now to have a balance problem but I am sure that it would not of been like this without the help that I was given. I walk with a stick now to keep my balance which is nothing compared to not being able to walk at all.  As I have said before I cannot thank everyone involved enough in looking after me, and I appreciate all that they did for me.

Thank you.
