"Home and happy"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as the patient),

I was recently admitted to W64 (Neuro) of the QEUH Glasgow for an elective procedure.

From the moment I arrive until I was discharged, I can't praise ALL the staff for kindness & help.

I have a life long disability, the staff were amazing accommodating my needs, knowing when I needed assistance & when to back off.

I even had a little chuckle to myself when it came to menu choices. I'm vegan & they have a dedicated menu for that. The staff member started rhyming off my option. At first I thought she was pulling my leg, but no, I've had MUCH worse choice & quality of food at a restaurant!

I had to go to theatre, again everyone was so friendly. U particularly liked the fact one of the nurses sat chatting to me as there was a delay in getting me prepped, took my mind off the pending op.

Big moment comes, off to sleep only to be woken a few minutes later as there had been an issue.

Really impressed how this was dealt with, no panic, just gave me time to ask me a few questions before I concented to having a local.

Fortunately everything worked out well.

Home and happy.

A massive thank you to you all.

Dear Dr Lecter,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience in Ward 64 and Theatres. Receiving such positive feedback from our patients truly means a lot to the team and can brighten their day. As the Lead Nurse, it is reassuring to hear about the excellent care our teams provided, especially in supporting you through the unexpected early awakening. I will share your kind feedback with the teams, this will mean so much to them.

Best wishes for your recovery.

Pamela (Philp)

Lead Nurse Neurosurgery & OMFS
