I went to Grantham hospital yesterday to have surgery on my right heel because I have been suffering from a heel spur rubbing on my achilles tendon for years. I was very nervous when I arrived but I was soon put at easy, everyone was so friendly and helpful. Really nothing is to much.
I seemed to really hit it off with my nurse Helen. She was fantastic even with suffering from a bad knee herself she was up and down and fetching and carrying and sorting everything out. I was told I would need to stay in overnight but the team was so good I was able to see the physio team earlier than planned and was allowed to go home the same evening.
A total of 12 hours in the hospital from start to finish. A fantastic surgery team. Claire in surgery reception was lovely and chatting with me and again put me at easy. The anesthetist team were really great. So lovely and friendly. Very good at getting me settled and told me everything before it happened and explained what they were doing before and as they did it. The surgery team headed by Mr Vasukutty were brilliant.
When I lay in the operating theatre I was thinking, 'when are they going to start?' then I realised they were already half way through! I was so relaxed I hadn't realised! Then I went through to recovery and the staff there were lovely and made me feel very comfortable and at ease. Then back to the ward for a lovely dinner and pudding and all the coffee that I could manage. A cuppa for the wife as well when she came in. All in all I couldn't fault a thing. Everyone was great and super helpful. 10 out of 10!
