"Long waits at A&E"

About: Warrington Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Last week my partner needed to go to A@E in Warrington hospital with severe pain. He was waiting with many others for over 12 hours sitting in waiting area when he really would have used laying on a bed. Same happened to me few months ago. He had been offered pain relief but that was only taking edge off pain.

Knowing that we simply have to wait because we needed diagnosis and treatment, I  felt humiliated and helpless and vulnerable and have been very upset about fact that i can't simply just leave because i need treatment and after 6 hours you just think that if you have been waiting so long it would be waste of your time to leave now. Situation at A@E at a Warrington hospital is critical and, I feel, should be dealt with by NHS and government. This simply goes against human rights to have adequate treatment in decent time. From 4 hours maximum legal time moving to 12 hours seems to be unreasonable to me. Something needs to change .
