"Slipped through the net - Children's Heart Centre"

About: Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick children / The Northern Ireland Children's Heart Centre

(as a parent/guardian),

At 4 weeks old, we discovered that our baby boy had a VSD, diagnosed by Dr McCrossan in the Children's Heart Centre. We were told that we needed to be seen again in 4 weeks. I hadn't heard anything or received any letters after 3 weeks, so then I phoned to get an update on his appointment. I was told that he "slipped through the net" and couldn't be seen until 1st September, which is 7 weeks after his initial appointment. This is a worrying time for us as a family and we are disappointed that our baby was simply forgotten about. Dr McCrossan and the staff at the Children's Heart Centre were brilliant at our first appointment, however this clerical error has caused us another few weeks of unnecessary worry.
